However, if you do not get the quantity of carbs you need, then you're not getting a chemical called Tryptophan. When digested, this chemical turns into serotonin and then into Melatonin, which is on the list as being one of the natural sleep aids that may help an individual with insomnia. This is an ingredient in milk, explaining why many who have issues with sleeping, often drink a pitcher of milk right before they go to bed.

Exercise may also be included as one of the main natural sleep aids. Exercising on a constant basis can help to alleviate stress, relax the muscles, decreases strain, and is a physical stressor for the body. This suggests that the brain will take on the physical stress the body is experiencing, that may promote a much more deep and sound sleep.

You want to ensure that you perform your exercise at the right time of day so that your body has the time that it wants to wind down. Having a good diet and getting the exercise you need at the right time, will help you to combat the insomnia problem that you are experiencing.
